The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Case It's Based On

Published 2024-03-11
While the many movies in this series are fiction, they are based loosely on a real serial killer who wore a mask of human skin and was a grave robber. The real serial killer, who was also the model for the Hitchcock movie classic Psycho, lived alone in a farmhouse. Inside police found all kinds of body parts, including a box of female genitalia, a heart in a frying pan, a box of cut-off noses, the sawed-off crania from several skulls, death masks peeled off dead females, a skin vest with female breasts and genitals, and a female scalp with black hair. They wondered just how many women he had killed.

Gein was the inspiration behind the antagonists of - The Texas Chainsaw Massacre - Leatherface Psycho - Norman Bates The Silence of the Lambs - Buffalo Bill
  • If you were a kid in the 80's this just hits different! 😅😮 Still all time scariest movie from my childhood 😊

Ah those were the days.... Texas Chainsaw... Alien... The Hills have eyes... The Exorcist..... Nightmare on Elm St.... [To name but a few]....... All good fun....❤
  • Supposed to be loosely based on grave robber, murderer, mama's boy, making body suits and wearing the skins of freshly dead women, Ed Gein who was caught and tried in a court of law and found to be insane and was put into an asylum for the criminally insane for the rest of his life. There are a few movies that's loosely based on Ed Gein...
  • Ever started a chainsaw? You have to have that shit in perfect working condition to be able to pull off all of the jump scares Leatherface does. Reliably starting first pull? I just imagine Leatherface spending a lot of prep time, waiting around corners and then having to abort mission because he forgot the priming bulb.

The Town that Dreaded Sundown is a movie based on the phantom I'm sure of it.

The Exorcist scared the crap out of me more than The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. My parents are awesome. Taking me to see both movies during the early 70s. Ever since I seen Jaws at the theater. Then and now I get a bad feeling when something touches my legs. Atlantic Ocean is murky and can't see what's swimming near you. Today's horror movies makes my 8 year old grandson laugh.

Harold Schecter's book, " Deviant" was the first true crime book I ever read over 30 years ago and started my addiction to true crime stories! It's excellent and is all about Ed Gein. 😊

Hate to say but a circular saw is nowhere near a chainsaw. Big diff!…..

I was traumatized by the chainsaw scene in Scarface and have never been able to watch any of the TCM movies.
  • I have a t-shirt that says "In Wisconsin, we eat people" and has pictures of Jeffrey & Ed
