It's no surprise to me that 5 is your favorite after watching some of your earlier videos. And it really is a lot of fun as far as gameplay is concerned. Excellent game. Story for me knocks it down a notch. 4 was my first FF so it's kinda always going to have a sacred bubble around it for me. Though I love 6 most of all the entire series, 4 (messy plot and all) gets a pass and remains my #2. I do have to wonder though, if FF5 had been released for SNES if it wouldn't be held higher on my overall tier list.

Nice list! Almost identical to mine from most to least favorite: 5, 6, 4, 2, 3, 1 I think my full favs order of all the FFs would be: 7, 14, 10, 8, 16, 13, 15, 12, 9, 5, 6, Tactics, X-2, 4, Mystic Quest, 2, 3, 1. Looking forward to seeing your full ranking at the end of your journey

I would put 6 above 5 (although I still need to play the pixel remaster--i've never finished it), but you explained your reasoning well enough that I understand why you like 5 more. Story is one of the most important things for me in a JRPG, so naturally I prefer 6 (though personally I also don't like the job system as much as everyone else does 😅). Good video!

FF1 is classic one that started it all. FF2 was kind of weird with the strange leveling system, but it had some good music. FF3 the Pixel Remaster version was good it improved upon 1 in some ways with the job class changing. FF4 was the first real story focused game of the series and is one of my favorites. FF5 had the return of the job system and possibly the best job system of the series. FF6 is my favorite personally of the series the gameplay allowed for character customization, but also kept each character unique with their own unique abilities they got that distinguished them from other characters. Really good story in 6 and music was awesome too.

I'm glad to see someone that appreciates how brilliant Final Fantasy V is. I haven't beaten PR 6 but my ranking would look something like this: V, II, VI, IV, I, III. Although, I could probably switch I and IV around and be fine with it.

I don't know that I would rank them in those same exact tiers, but my order would be the same and I'm happy to see some love for FFV.

I can honestly agree with all you said and really wish you included 16 in this. I actually put 16 on a small pause cause of how many callbacks to FF5 that was in the game just to go and play it (that and my physical copy of the pixel remaster for the switch came in). Love your content.

Final Fantasy 4 deserves to be Rank A at least! But I can understand your perspective. My Rankings would be: Final Fantasy 1: Rank B Final Fantasy 2: Rank A Final Fantasy 3: Rank A Final Fantasy 4: Rank S Final Fantasy 5: Rank B Final Fantasy 6: Rank B I'm too much of a FF fanatic to put any below Rank B lol

Agree with this list, I will say in regards to ff5 the difficulty ramps up dramatically! The job system adds so much diversity to the characters really feels like you can craft your party members, I have to ask though where your thoughts are on ff16 don't make me wait 😂 the more I play it the more I'm loving it! My partner cant be in the same room as me while I'm playing as ignore her she says 😅

Woohoo FFV! It’s been my favorite FF since the 90s and I feel like people are finally starting to get it. Great list. I’d probably put IV in A but otherwise totally agree

I think they’re all great for what they were trying to do. 4 will forever hold a special place in my heart. The first time I played it in 1991, it changed my view on video games forever. It’s what made me fall in love with RPGs. 6 just blew the doors off and really cemented my love for FF. I think the thing that holds 5 back is the story. It’s not terrible, but it’s so silly for the sake of being silly. I play RPGs for their story more than I do gameplay. All in all I will say I enjoyed the pixel remaster versions so much. If you turn off encounters and just bump all the boosts up to only fight monster chests and mandatory battles it can keep the challenge while keeping the story on the go. This really made me enjoy FF2 a lot more.

2 is definitely a low tier final fantasy but idk I always had a strange fondness for it, the battle system is incredibly fun to break and mess around with and it's one of the very few final fantasy games where status spells work on most bosses making them not useless. The trap rooms and dungeon designs are pretty terrible though. I haven't really played pixel remaster but I played the famicom 3 and it had the worst implementation of the job system I've ever seen, you had jobs that had straight upgrades over former ones, old jobs not getting equipment after some points and some new jobs not getting equipment at all till later parts, every party looked the same at the end. Very glad 5 fixed all those issues and more.

I’ve never had more fun with a video game than when I played FF5 on the PS one.

I’m pretty much in agreement tbh. 5 is better than 6 and I’d so as far as to say 6 would be in A if I did the tier list. I love 6. But I love 5 so much more.

I came to see if 5 would be ahead of 4 but I never expected it to be “S”.. only because this list will include the whole franchise. I would mostly ding 5 for the confusing segways in its dungeons. Otherwise, like I said it is the one that benefited most from the enhancements. I do think these versions are all too easy and your experience mostly depends on how you adjust the sliders. And I think if this was the originals, your list would be different.
