Really impressed with how accurate the military hardware is in this. You rarely see that kind of detail and accuracy

I like how VDV conquers the world straight in parade uniform.

Dude... the Japanese just know how to show off warfare in their animation. Others don't even come close. It takes a lot for my jaw to drop but seeing this shit never fails.

in my opinion they capture the last moments of that sub perfectly. the crew has no clue whats going on, they were just attacked by what was most definitely NATO, and they think nuclear war has broken out, it makes sense for them to fire there missiles
  • For those interested in knowing the plot of the film I will make a summary without spoilers. The story begins in the late 1980s, in this world Ronald Regan's Star Wars project is a success (although the president’s name isn’t Reagan and the project doesn’t have the same name), the United States has achieved the supremacy of the space with your new weapon. The Soviets, feeling threatened and wanting to obtain the technology, kidnap the chief scientist of the project, the American government locates the scientist in a Soviet submarine and sinks it with a nuclear depth bomb. From that moment on, the focus is divided between the Soviet and American government with both sides trying to anticipate the opponent's movement and overcome their internal fights. Mikhail Gorbachev for many reasons ends up virtually without power which allows a member of the government (probably from the KGB) to take control of the country. He then sets in motion his plan to attack first and secure the position of the Soviet Union as the most powerful country on Earth. All it took for a war to start was a small slip, which obviously happened ... This is a great summary, it still has a lot of story to tell, in my opinion a positive point of the film is to show the psychological suffering and finally the loss of hope of the characters when they witness and fight in the war. In that sense the secondary characters are much more interesting than the main ones. The main story is slow and boring in many ways, mainly due to the lack of action, but it has philosophical and sentimental moments that compensate for this slowness and help to create an interesting atmosphere.

Суровые советские ВДВ настолько суровы, что штурмуют базы мерзких капиталистов зимой, в летней униформе (!), без шлемов но в беретах (!!). Психологическая атака во все края )))

Bruh if someone told me that an anime would be the most anatomically correct and detailed depiction of late 1980s great power warfare, I would have not believed you.
