  • Great reaction, as always! Ky is basically the 2nd main hero protagonist of the Guilty Gear series, so it's very much the case that he wants to "spread light" as you put it. He also has lightning powers (which is where "Roar of the Spark" comes from). He hopes to inspire others and be a good leader (he's basically a king).
  • Fun fact: The melody / leitmotif that is very prevalent in the solo and plays at the end of each chorus (before the vocalist yelling THE ROAR OF THE SPARK) is from Ky's old theme "Holy Orders", and is the only melody / leitmotif to survive every single mainline Guilty Gear game.

Basically Ky’s character is that of a King, Knight, law enforcer and overall peace keeper. Just like each strive song, Ky’s theme goes into depth with the character’s psyche, growth, fears and personal desires. Ky as a character was a child soldier inducted into the sacred holy order of knights fighting in Guilty Gear’s hundred long war called the Crusades in during which he was a ruthless gear killing machine. He himself used to have ridged and devout sense of justice is often put into question when faced with the grim bitter reality and hypocrisy of his role in the world. Which became even worse with his rise in political influence and marriage to his Gear wife Dizzy and birth of his half human/half gear son Sin. It’s until recently he’s found a place of hope and solace in a world albeit flawed that he still wishes to protect because of his newfound family.
  • Ky as a character at least in the game is sort of at the crossroads of his life. Got a family, children, responsibilities, ect and he is struggling with the values he held in his previous past self. The song is about him struggling under that weight and still pressing on to show the way for others, to create "a world filled with light" of the bright souls carrying on "the roar of the spark".
  • Ky secret Move is called, Ride the Lightning. Yes, it is a Metallica Reference. If you think something is a really no the nose Reference, it is a Reference. Sol, The Main character is Freddy Mercury. I am only half kidding

In the original Guilty Gear, Ky was basically lawful stupid. He did what he was told because he assumed that orders from above must be morally just. To compress his character arc a bit, he has since become somewhat akin to the moral compass of Guilty Gear as a franchise. I would argue he is close to the ideal man (or person in general, i suppose). He is strong, but his strength is always guided by kindness. This is what gives him confidence. "I know I'm strong and I know I put kindness first, so why would I doubt myself?" A very important word choice in this song is that he is not "hoping to fill the world with my light", but "hoping to fill the world with all kinds of light". Ky's kindness isn't bound by whatever you might consider "normal", but clearly extends even beyond humanity to people like Dizzy. In Guilty Gear Strive (and possibly beyond) this also extends to people like Bridget, Testament or Ramlethal. All of them either don't conform to "normality" or aren't even human at all. All of this makes Ky one of the more developed characters in the setting and by extension one of the more interesting in my opinion.

My winrate against Ky is higher simply because this song hypes me up. Same with Nago. Just really easy songs to play with
  • I Suggest you listen to Crawl which is also from Strive! Its the boss theme for the arcade mode of the game and its a lot more thrashier than the other tracks, and the vocals are a lot more metal too!
