Toradora gave me post-anime depression. Here's how.
Post anime depression is the feeling you get when you finish an anime that's really REALLY good, and now that it's over you just feel... empty. That's Toradora. But how does it do this? Technically it's just another highchool romance. But it has to be doing SOMETHING different, right?

  • everyone gangster till toradora ost- lost my pieces starts playing

For me, it was the pool scene. Ryuji almost drowns, and when he's lying on the pool deck, Taiga screams at everyone to get away from him because he belongs to her. Taiga's terrified for Ryuji and she doesn't know how to express herself other than blind rage. That's a powerful scene.
  • You know a series really affected you when you can't even get through a breakdown analysis without chest pains 😭
  • "The greatest kiss in anime history" Preach it Brandon. Taiga's line, "If we kiss, it's probably going to hurt" just kicks me right in the feels and sums up the entire journey.

I love that taiga went from not being able to confront her feelings in the classroom to realizing she still needs to grow before she can be someone that is able to be emotionally stable enough to be in a relationship

side note, the connection of her rolling out of the locker the first day when they meet and him finding her hiding there in the end was one of my favorite details

I was extremely mad when I first finished this anime, then I stuck around till after the credits because the episode seemed oddly short. Finding her in a locker, just like in the very beginning, is poetic, and kind of hilarious. "I wanted to surprise you all... but I was too late"
  • Recently rewatched it. There's so many moments that made me cry. Pool scene but also the scene where Taiga realizes she'll lose Ryuuji. The fact she realizes she's been crying knowing if Ryuuji and Minori end up together he wouldn't be able to be next to her and her screaming his name. But even moments like the kissing scene and the moment where Taiga leaves. I can't recover from it for a while but even after my second rewatch it still hits me. I'm an emotional mess.

I think the saddest scene in the entire show was when Minori kisses her fist after putting it on Ryuuji's lips. It just shows that she still loves him but she has to let him go because she knows that someone else needed him more than her.
  • toradora is one of those animes that even when you watched it two years ago and forgot about it, when someone brings it up you just remember how it made you feel and smile at just how good it was
  • I absolutely agree on the Christmas scene. Kugimiya Rie's performance as Taiga was incredible, her screams of "Ryuujiiiii!" while crying in despair in the cold street were heart-wrenching

I also love how when ryuji's mom reunites with her perents you can see how much of her life she dedicated to ryuji and how she tried to be strong for his sake when she breaks down in tears. Her acting like a kid with her parents made me realy happy because my mom was only recently reunited with my grendparents after years of avoiding them after a fight.

"Toradora gave me depression And I liked it." Dude just killed me right after I opened the video
  • i was so sad about toradora that i literally refused to think about it for a year by mentally shouting until i stopped thinking about it. and then i rewatched it a year later and saw the end credits scene.
  • @syndrrgd812
I literally broke down sobbing at the end of the show. Never before have I gotten this emotional over a show.
  • I love the darker undertones of this show. One kid is a depressed over archiver, one is a child of a Yakuza, one is a neglected kid and one gets stalked. And all that mostly just in the background.
  • One of the reasons Toradora is my favorite romcom is the fact that it actually feels like Taiga is a second main character. You dont get that very often with the lead assist.
  • @tmo_ix9
This show literally came out 14 years ago and nothing else since then has ever done something to me on an emotional scale quite like Toradora. This truly is humanities greatest anime. Also I've watched it 7 times
  • Toradora was the first romance focused anime I watched. The whole thing was a ride of emotions I didn’t want to feel… but then when I finished it I wanted more
