    Peatarian for the win. 2 boxes of baking soda a year for 7 years now. Love it mixed with acidic fruit juices.

    Order healthy kidney delayed release sodium Bicarb capsules. Taking 2-4 daily has been a huge life changer for me. 650mg each. May experiment with upping the dosage but never felt the need to go above 4 thus far. Take them fasted or with meals never had an issue. Actually has improved digestion.

    How much of this is due to baking soda counteracting the acidifying effects of the western diet high in animal protein? McDougall mentions baking soda as a bone protector for this reason, but seems to indicate that it would not be necessary on a more alkaline diet with less animal protein.
