Westley Allan Dodd - The Worst Serial Killer in the World

Published 2024-03-25
A parent's worst nightmare, this monster carefully planned the execution of little boys, stalked and abducted them, and then tortured and murdered them. How do we know? He videotaped it all and kept a detailed journal.

When we were 6, a man approached my friend and me in my grandmother's front yard. As he was asking us questions, he exposed himself. We ran into my grandmother's house and told my mom and she called the police. They never found the man. Several years later, we saw the same man's face on TV. It was Westley Allan Dodd.

When he was 15, Dodd was arrested for indecent exposure, but police released him. In August 1981, at the age of 20, Dodd tried to abduct two girls, who reported him to the police. No action was taken. Once again, the system failed these kids. Even his father knew there was something wrong with his son but he wasn't drinking and wasn't doing drugs so his son "was a good boy." Had he had been arrested and kept in jail after he tried to abduct the two girls the boys would be alive today. Dodd was not insane -- he was an evil monster.
  • When I was 7 and my mom went to Florida, my blind grandmama was staying with us. That was in 1975 when parents still let their kids walk home from school unattended. An older man (I'd say he was in his late 50s) pulled up in an older station wagon outside the school. He had 2 "older" kids with him; a boy & girl maybe 12. He said my mom had sent him to pick me up. I, innocently explained, "my mommy's in Florida. But my grandmama is staying with us". He said, "yeah yeah. Your grandma's car broke down so SHE sent me to get you". I said, "but my grandmama is blind. She can't drive" and I started to get suspicious. Just then this older boy, Mike Vass ran up & told me to run which I did. Neither of us reported it to a teacher Years later at my uncle's funeral I asked Mike if he remembered that incident and he said he did I thanked him for saving my life

I was in elementary school in Vancouver, WA when this piece of garbage was "active." I used to play at David Douglas park all the time. As a result of Dodd's sick deeds, we kids were often given fliers from school about suspicious vehicles approaching kids at bus stops and outside of school. I was so scared that I made my own "pepper spray" out of lemon juice, cayenne pepper, and hornet killer. I mixed it in a water sprayer hoping that it would be strong enough if a "bad man" came after me. Those were scary times for us kids in Vancouver.

Love how the Doctor "knew" he wouldn't harm kids....the system failed so many victims and their families. Cannot be rehabilitated.

Was a hard one to watch….. I’m a father of 5 boys…. Need to hear this type of stuff to remind myself how close I should keep my boys
  • How could someone with this record not be sent to prison? This is baffling, surely people were aware of pedofiles in the 70s?

How is it not realised that repeat offenders will keep offending. That sexually assault is a hideous crime. It is trivialised by pathetic sentencing.

His aunt, Elsie Dodd babysat my daughter, they were member's of our church, Elsie and her husband, David, who was this creeps blood uncle! Both of them were the nicest people and had two boys that were VERY well mannered, almost weird in their conservative dress for the time. But an upstanding family of the community of Richland Washington. Allan didn't go to our church, or any church, but it was here in Richland that he started watching kids walk home from school and, well, I'm glad he's not breathing any more. I felt badly for the Dodd's, they must have been devastated when this came out, I wondered if the boys, cousin's to Allen had ever been abused by him. I'd lost contact with them and that's something one doesn't want to ask. And my son worked at the aluminum factory with Robert Yates, the Spokane serial killer, knew him and all the employees where shocked when he was arrested on his way to work. And lastly, Ted Bundy killed my friend Laura Healy's big sister Linda taken from her apartment in Seattle. And without knowing it, we all rode our horses on Taylor mountain where Bundy buried a lot of his victim's. We didn't know there was even a "serial killer" working back then, it wasn't until the two girls were taken, on the same day, from lake Sammamish that people started thinking about that. Weird world, I started on the west side of the state with Bundy and came to the eastern side of the same state to see another serial killer! I'm seventy years old and hope that I don't have any more weird co inky dinky's!

It's crazy how closely his life parallels Joseph Duncan III. Duncan wrote a blog about how much he was "persecuted". These sick bastards get protective custody in prison. Get convicted of intent to distribute drugs? Genpop where you either rape or get raped. Prey on the most vulnerable, precious portion of society and destroy not only lives, but innocence? Get a cushy ride and a short sentence if you managed to control yourself and not murder them. Our society has some really odd pecadillos that need to be addressed and soon.

What really raised my eyebrows was the mother who didn't want to traumatize her kids by pressing charges 😮 really as if they weren't already traumatized by being molested !!! SMH😢 he might have been stopped at that point
  • @meganseaver4859
I've always told my kids. Doesn't matter if the person is adult/child, cop/homeless, Christian/camp leader... Don't listen if you feel u shouldn't. don't ever show body, unless I and you BOTH give permission. Even if a trusted person.
  • @ninajones1175
It’s not always girls. Our boys are in just as much danger.😢

The only book I've ever deleted from my Kindle account was about this monster. It was well written but, having read it once, I never wanted to read it again.
  • @watsonspuzzle
I've seen a lot of disturbing things, but Dodd's diary was the worst. I read excerpts of it in a book years ago. That was when I realized how intensely invested these types of people are. The fantasies just churn through their minds continuously. I don't know how they can find this so exciting when it makes the rest of us throw up.

Thanks SKD. 😊 Thank you for providing tips and reminders at the end.

At that time, they were giving life sentences for drug offenses, but were giving chomos probation. I'm glad they had their priorities in order, smh.
  • My Father owned a car lot in Vancouver for over 35 years... He gave a used toyota truck to the hero Graves... Never made mention of it to the local press! My Father is right now 91 years old and still a very public figure... Has 5 meetings this week!
  • @astroemerald3175
CSA child after child and was allowed to walk free . Disgusting.
  • Thank you Doc! My stepfather walked him to the chamber. Just starting to watch, I wonder if you got that footage! I hope you are well and family as well.
