This is what happens when greedy cities keep overdeveloping, covering over the land and leaving nowhere for the water to drain.
-
And Florida continues to build into any and all wetlands. That is why water has no place to go.
-
New homes built in areas that flood intermittently. Poor drainage planning. Local governments liable for greedily approving inappropriate development. People moving from outside who have no clue about FL, summer rain, drainage, and tropical storms.

@1:02...so sad. I got goosebumps watching this...praying for a quick recovery from this disaster...

First time we’ve ever had houses in that area that’s why you’ve never seen it

No wonder insurance companies are pulling out of Florida. Actuality is a hard number and in Florida's case it points to more of this stuff coming on a regular basis.

I'm a car dealer and if a car is flooded the title is rebuilt but it has to pass an inspection. It's against the law to advertise a car without disclosing it has a rebuilt title!
-
That is Lakewood Ranch a poorly constructed neighborhood on a golf course. I expect many of the houses are insured and now we all have to pay. It is ridiculous. The amount of construction that was built in Florida improperly in the past 40 years.

Keep building indiscriminately and you will find out

Ugh, havig lived there in florida over 50 years, I can't imagine the tourists trying to getting around and know what to do! This is very helpful to know whats going on.

I moved to Florida 1964, time to go! God bless everyone dealing with this. This was not a bad storm for us/imagine a cat 5 which I went thru/Andrew.

This is what happens when you build in places that you should never build in!!!

Well, it's already been raining heavily every single day this summer in Manatee county and the ground was already completely saturated at the time that Debby hit. I work in this area every day, have to walk through the dirt all day every day and anyone who spends time outside here could see this coming when the storm hit. Mosquito control is something all counties in the central West coast of Florida have completely dropped the ball on and in Pinellas county mosquito control is non-existent anymore. But in situations like this mosquito control is an absolute must. You guys are correct about that.

Excellent coverage...as always...Thank Y'all..💞🇺🇸✌

Oof that home owners insurance is about to be lit, I’m in a no flood zone in lake county and it’s still high, with flood insurance alone it’s too much.

this may not be last one for this year. The hurricane season is barely 2 months old. We have another 4 or 5 more months to go.
-
The difficult reality is that most of these folks don’t have flood insurance because they are in a Zone X.

Guess all the building and the reduction of the marsh and wetlands comes back to haunt the planning board permits. The last 20 years I’ve seen so much building on what were ponds and lakes. Oh well my thoughts go out to all that lost cares.
